Ryka

This beautiful black Dutch Warmblood mare is one of the most willing-to-please horses you can find. Impeccable conformation, a very friendly attitude and a fabulous character make this horse a pleasure to own. She is very elegant and has excellent bone and substance without being heavy at all.

The KWPN registered and imported mare is a highly talented jumper with three above average gaits with super fancy movement. She has a big strided walk with a clear rhythm. In her trot, she shows an extreme amount of engagement from the hind end with a thoroughly swinging back. She also has excellent freedom in the shoulders. Her canter is big and she is a horse with a strong and energetic hind leg, lots of suspension and impulsion.

She is a horse with the attitude and ability for a successful career. This is an outstanding opportunity for you to buy a mare destined for the show ring or a broodmare for producing top quality jumpers.

Before being imported the black beauty has shown successfully in the Netherlands under saddle and was then sold in foal to Canada. She had several foals here who all inherited her looks, gaits and jumping talent.

She is sound and healthy and can be brought back under saddle anytime. Even though she was quiet under saddle and easy to ride, she is not suitable for a green beginner because of her talent and forward-going attitude.

The most remarkable feature of this lovely mare is her superior pedigree. Her Sire VDL Laroche is a Grand Prix jumper himself and was owned and shown by Frankie Chesler of Canada. The Dam's side proves to be equally exclusive with Grand Sire Sovereign Bill who produced many Grand Prix jumpers and approved stallions himself and the legendary Marco Polo. So it comes as no surprise that this mare is a splendidly gifted jumper. Very brave and honest, she takes every obstacle with outstanding scope and lots of room to clear the highest bar. She loves to jump but is also very careful and learns immediately from a mistake. We free jumped her over 1.2m but she can easily go higher than that.

She is a horse for any rider who wants to own a highly talented and impeccably bred horse with the option to breed her again. Her willing attitude allows everybody to enjoy her. She is equally suited as broodmare or to bring her back under saddle and will not disappoint. The possibilities are endless with this mare for showing her, breeding now or later again or simply enjoying having a honest and quiet riding partner. She is not mare-ish and very easy to handle. She is also easy to breed, foals without any help and is an excellent mother.

This lovely mare is priced to sell quickly because unfortunately we have to downsize. Usually you would not have the opportunity to buy such a phenomenal imported Dutch WB broodmare for this price. This is a limited time offer and an exceptional chance to improve your bredding program for a small amount

This fantastic mare's pedigree explains where all her potential derives from: She carries the blood of many famous Sires and almost all of her ancestors were awarded high breeding evaluation with titles like Ster, Pref, Prest and Keur. Noticable is that she is inbred three times to well known Trakehner Sire Marco Polo who left his stamp not only in the Trakehner but also in the KWPN, Hannoverian, Oldenburg and Holsteiner studbook directly or through his offspring.

SIRE:
VDL LAROCHE was bred and approved in the Netherlands with a ranking of fourth in the jumping portion of his inspection. The illustrious VDL Stud Farm bought him right after his approval and owned him for many years. Now he standing at stud at Hilltop Farms in MD, USA. Here is what they have to say about this exceptional stallion:

"Hilltop Farm is proud to once again offer our breeders the Grand Prix showjumping stallion LAROCHE. Owned by the presitigous VDL Stud early in career, this KWPN approved stallion finished 4th  in the jumping portion of his Stallion Test.  Laroche was described at his testing as an ‘honest stallion with a big, powerful, well-carried canter…  Laroche has more than enough talent for jumping and gives his rider a good feeling.’
Laroche next won the KWPN Stallion Jumping Competition at Den Bosch, Holland.  With Angelique Hoorn, Laroche had a successful international Grand Prix career in Europe before being purchased for Frankie Chesler in Canada.  With a long career throughout Europe and North America, Laroche’s accomplishments follow those of his successful ancestors.
His sire Olympic CONCORDE competed internationally under Jos Lansink for many years with excellent results.  He was selected as the KWPN Horse of the Year in 2004 and was the youngest stallion to ever be awarded the Preferent title.
Laroche’s dam is the Keur Preferent Prestatie mare Bernadette, by the legendary NIMMERDOR.  He too was an international showjumper of great quality.  He sired 18 approved sons, including Ahorn, Goodtimes, and Heartbreaker.  In 2000 Nimmerdor was elected “the stallion of the 20th century” in the Netherlands.
Of unique interest in Laroche’s pedigree is the Trakehnher stallion Marco Polo whose influence is felt in both his sire and dam.  The jumping ability and good character which he passed was apparent early on.  Polo Boy, Vivaldi, Pybalia, and Marius (sire of Milton) were all international showjumping stars of the early 1980’s that descend from Marco Polo.
The Swedish mare Pjalgary VDL, Rudi, and VDL Groep Saffier all appear on the 2008 FEI Ranking List for Jumping Horses.  Mr. President and Bugatti are winning in the jumper ring in the US for Laroche.
Laroche is a well-regarded stallion in Europe and has already produced a number of exceptional offspring including six Ster mares, two Keur mares, and one licensed stallion. His offspring have proven very successful as showjumpers and his European-based offspring have earned him a KWPN jumping index of 149, which ranks him 8th of all KWPN stallions with offspring aged 10 or older.
Laroche offers a kind and respectful character and is an easy stallion to live with on a daily basis.  He has good bone with well-developed feet, a kind eye, and a strong hindquarter with a particularly good canter. Laroche is an excellent choice for breeders looking to improve jumping ability."

VDL Laroche's career highlights were among many other achievements:
2010: Jumping Breeding Index of 149 - ranked 8th of all KWPN stallions with offspring 10 or older
2007: Open Hunter Champion ~ Ashley Meadows
International Grand Prix Jumper for many years
2002: Winner of the VHO Trophy in Den Bosch
2001: 4th at the CDI Maastrict - Rabobank Prix

DAM:
Dam Husheila contributes equally to the extraordinary pedigree as Sire VDL Laroche. She was sired by Sovereign Bill, a KWPN and SWANA approved Thoroughbred whose progeny shows internationally successful at the highest level as well. He also left his stamp in the stud books with several sons, grand sons and highly rated daughters. His ancestors like GREY SOVEREIGN, Nasrullah, Nearco, Blenheim, Supreme Court, Precipitation were celebrated in the horse world.

Husheila goes on her dam's side back to the prominent stallion MARCO POLO who is considered to be the most influential Dutch stallion in breeding and jumping and has sired several keur stallions. Marco Polo, a Trakehner bred in Germany in mid 1960's, was an outstanding show jumping sire despite his short stature. His progeny have been successful all over the world and include Vivaldi, Marius, and the famous Whitaker Olympic mount, Milton. His best sons to stand at stud are Legaat, sire of Adios and Cosmos, Recruit, and Irco Polo, sire of Irco Marco and Marcio.
